Babysitting can be fun if you make it more enjoyable by learning a few babysitting party ideas. If you turn normal babysitting into a party, the children will learn to love it. You can include games that are educational and promote learning, introduce arts and crafts and add healthy but fun foods for meals and snacking. The children will get plenty of exercise and they will be less likely to misbehave because they are bored. Babysitting party ideas are easy to come by as long as you use your imagination.

A babysitting party does not have to be indoors. If it is a hot day, you can turn on the sprinklers or make a slip and slide. If you are babysitting more than one child, it may not be a good idea to go to the neighborhood pool, especially if there are no lifeguards present. But you can go to your local beach area as long as there is a lifeguard and marked off shallow places for the young children to swim. If you are babysitting a toddler under the age of 2, you can have fun by building sand castles or visiting the play area. It may be fun to pack a picnic lunch for your group to share. Just make sure to bring the sunscreen and reapply it when the children come in from swimming.

A trip to the local zoo or the YWCA can also be a fun way to spend the day. Both of these activities are great exercise for children and they will also be able to interact and be around other kids. Smaller children would love visiting a petting zoo and this can be educational too. The YWCA offers games, exercise classes and they also have a pool equipped with a lifeguard.

If you are experiencing rainy weather and a babysitting party can not be held outdoors, there are many arts and crafts that can be enjoyed indoors. You can let the children do finger painting or color in coloring books. Kids love to learn new crafts, so you can introduce them to things like planting a seed to produce a plant or you can play beauty salon and do hair and nails. You can ask the children what crafts they would enjoy learning about and doing.

Just because you are having a babysitting party, it does not mean that the children have to eat unhealthy snacks or prepared microwave meals. It can also help to allow the children to help you prepare healthy food. A big party favorite is always pizza but it isn’t necessarily a healthy dish. Instead of ordering out, you can take frozen pizza crust and cook it in the oven. When it turns golden brown, take it out and allow it to cool for 10 minutes. Use a low calorie version of cream cheese and spread it over the pizza crust. Cut up cold vegetables and arrange them on the top of the pizza. Use vegetables like tomatoes, broccoli, cauliflower and green peppers. This is a very healthy alternative to regular pizza and it is a colorful, delicious dish.

A good way to get the kids to go to sleep at a reasonable hour is to have a camping babysitting party. You can place sleeping bags in one area or you can even assemble small tents. Kids love this and they are likely to retreat to their camping area early to play. You can set up a small TV near the area and encourage the children to lie down and watch a movie. This can quiet the room considerably so that the children can start to relax and fall asleep.
